Aviation Solutions
An aeronautical chart is a map designed to assist in navigation of aircraft. Using these charts and other tools pilots are able to determine their position, safe altitude, best route to a destination, navigation aids along the way, alternative landing areas in case of an in-flight emergency, and other useful information such as radio frequencies and airspace boundaries. Specific charts are used for each phase of a flight and may vary from a map of a particular airport facility to an overview of the instrument routes covering an entire continent (e.g., global navigation charts), and many types in between.
NedGraphics is a software company specialist in computer automated design and geographical information systems. for governments and engineering bureaus. NedGraphics has developed smartGlobe, an aeronautical charting system. Customers include airlines and civil and military aviation authorities. EUROCONTROL selected smartGlobe as their high-end (AIP) charting product for there European aeronautical database project. The smartGlobe aeronautical charting system allows the generation and maintenance of charts and aeronautical data using a single source. The smartGlobe Web Data Manager is a web application for the retrieval, visualisation and maintenance of aeronautical (static) data. MapTrans is a map conversion utility.

NAV - CANADA
In 2006 NAV CANADA selected the smartGlobe Aeronautical Charting System as its aeronautical charting solution. The decision was made after it assumed responsibility for the production and printing of Aeronautical Information Publications. To support this responsibility, NAV CANADA has made a major investment in an aeronautical database system that increases the focus on managing aeronautical data, while providing a digital production platform for documents and charts, and enabling flexible product delivery.
An important reference for NAV CANADA was EUROCONTROL, the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation. EUROCONTROL selected smartGlobe in 1999 as their charting product for the Eurocontrol European Aeronautical Database project. |
